“Letting Go” Featuring Sarah Green – The intro song of Lasers describes Lupe’s transformation as a person that he mentions in several interviews as being caused by the process of getting the album done. Despite this, the album still comes out pretty strong. Because of all this, the album’s song choices seem split – half Lupe, half Atlantic Records. Every Lupe Fiasco fan that has been waiting for this album knows the controversy behind its release: disputes at his label Atlantic Records, direction of the album, suicidal thoughts, what single to release, release date, fan protests and petitions, Lupe “hating” his own album, pretty much everything you can imagine (interviews here, and here, and here). It’s actually the fourth version that Lupe has made. In order to get this album released as soon as possible (which Lupe thought would be the best option for everyone involved), compromise, more so on Lupe’s part, was needed. This was not the Lasers album Lupe Fiasco wanted. Love Always Shines Every time Remember 2 Smile* Also, this album has been on hold for about 3 years, and I was definitely one of those anxiously waiting. Next, this album has had so much publicity through the media, sometimes, it feels like the music may be lost in all of this. First of all, Lupe Fiasco is widely considered one of the best lyricists in the game today. For my first album review, I chose Lupe Fiasco’s newest album Lasers for several reasons.
